August 2014

Here we are in what is fast becoming Autumn already. It’s still summer but we’ve had a few cold fronts and a lot of wet spells.

August is usually the time to be looking seriously at major tree cutting and pruning, formative pruning to certain trees can be carried out in the height of the growing season.

This is a good time to get in a hedge cut for most hedges, including beech and conifers, leaving enough growing time to allow a final trim in late September to early October (at the very latest!) to achieve the shape you want until the spring.

We’ve been busy here with a lot of tree cutting and pruning this month. It’s a busy period with people wanting to get work done before the autumn sets in and trees start to lose their leaves and go into dormancy. Enjoy the sunshine!
